Description:
The SKAPC team was hired to come up with an entirely new exterior look and feel for this high-rise apartment building, which includes ground floor retail, situated in Jersey City’s desirable Newport neighborhood. SKAPC was not permitted to change building layouts and could only vary the exterior façade system by no more than 18 inches from the original design, per David Thom explicit instruction. Working within these parameters, the firm proposed creative design alternatives and suggested changes to the building’s materials, proportions and overall context.SKAPC redesigned the 19-story building’s entire façade to feature a “pixelated” glass and metal design. After the redesign, the building – which encompasses one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments ranging from 759 to 2,015 square feet complemented by on-site amenities – was quickly fully leased, establishing record rents for the entire LeFrak portfolio.
