Description:

SKAPC provided architectural services for the subdivision and conversion of a 1911 terra cotta commercial building into a residential condominium encompassing 70 residential apartments and 3 duplex penthouses. The former Lightolier manufacturing building is located just off 5th Avenue in the Midtown Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood with an architecturally distinct belvedere sitting atop the structure. Apartments were designed in a variety of sizes and include such details as 12-foot-6-inch ceiling heights with exposed beams, wide-plank espresso oak floors and 8-foot-high solid core doors. Units feature custom, open-plan kitchens, spa-like bathrooms and built-in closets throughout; each apartment has its own mechanical room as well. Additionally, the entry lobby was renovated into a sophisticated space that adjoins the two buildings around the third staircase. The concierge desk serves as the centerpiece of the lobby and boasts a Calcutta marble surface and waterfall edges.
