Description:

SKAPC transformed the interiors of a1,351-square-foot apartment along Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, creating a pied-à-Terre for the clients, who are avid modern art collectors hailing from Sweden. The firm’s contemporary and minimalist design for the family of four’s home achieved the client’s vision of rich materials with clean white walls to serve as an ideal backdrop for their art collection. Scope of work included the renovation of the kitchen, living room and a bathroom with custom millwork throughout. The kitchen now features a contemporary black-and-white scheme. To evoke a more open, airy feel in the kitchen space, SKAPC’s design replaced wall cabinetry with floating shelves, which match the walls in color. As an integrated design element, the cylindrical-shaped oven hood, which faces the living room, also matches the walls and ceiling in color. The renovation also involved the outdoor terrace, adding a pergola, which received approvals from the Department of Buildings and Landmark Preservation Commission.
