Description:

This project involved the seamless combination of two modern apartments in this dramatic, 21-story residential condominium tower in Chelsea. At the suggestion of SKAPC, the client purchased a portion of the building’s common area in order to facilitate a more efficient layout for the new space. SKAPC’s minimalist modern design, including white epoxy flooring throughout, enables the floor-to-ceiling windows – framing west views of the Hudson River and the surrounding city landscape – to form the spectacular backdrop for the entire space. To create an expansive kitchen, SKAPC incorporated the arch-designed kitchen of one of the original units into the combined space. The sleek kitchen features a functional industrial design, and a custom-built island bar separates the open plan kitchen from the dining area with terrazzo surfacing and floors seamlessly blending together. The living room boasts built-in custom sofas integrated into the wall and floor and eccentric lighting, defining the space within the home’s open layout. The impressive residential tower was originally designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Beyer Blinder Belle.
