Description:
Known for its expertise in historical restorations and handling landmark approvals, SKAPC was tapped for façade repairs on this circa 1909 building, which has been captured in countless movies due to its charm and beauty. Te 12-story Gramercy Park building, located between 3rd Avenue and Irving Place, was converted to a co-op with 18 units in1956. SKAPC’s restoration work was completed while the building was occupied with minimal disruption to the owners and tenants.
The century-old building falls under the juurisdiction of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, which is responsible for protecting New York’s architecturally, historically and culturally signifcant buildings. SKAPC handled the necessary approvals from the Commission for the restoration of wrought-iron guard rails on each balcony. For the restoration, SKAPC had the guard rails fully removed, completing the ofen noisy and messy work ofscraping and painting of-site. Te guard rails were refnished and raised fve inches to bring them up to code. Te projuect also included additional appurtenance repair work and maintenance as well as outrigger repairs and window renovations.
